Poppell, Mattie Lou Monroe Roberts

Daughter of Daniel Lloyd Monroe Sr. & Mattie Lou Hagan. Mattie Lou was raised on the Monroe Farm south of Waukeenah. She married John R. Roberts and they had three children, Ramona, John Junior, and Betty Marlene Boland. She later married Dick Poppell and they had one daughter, Melinda Lilliston. Mattie Lou also took care of her great-niece, Amy Monroe. She was a member of the Wacissa Holiness Church. She loved her church, her family and her friends. She enjoyed housekeeping and putting up vegetables. You could always count on her to bring her delicious homemade “lemon-cheese cake” to events.
